Tips for the perfect grilled chicken

If you want to enjoy the Galito’s experience within the comfort of your own home or wow your guests by firing up the BBQ, we recommend you read on. We’ll let you in on a few of our secrets so you can grill chicken to perfection!

1.Pick the right cut of halal chicken

It’s very important to pick the right cut when it comes to grilling chicken. How much time do you have? Do you want quality family time with a BBQ grill? Or are you hosting a fast weeknight dinner? Remember that larger cuts of chicken will take longer to cook. If you want to quickly prepare dinner, stick to small pieces that are easier to cook through.

If you’re opting for halal chicken, make sure your grocery store or food establishment has a halal certification. Halal regulations ensure that all meat products have correct halal labels and information.

2.Prep your grill properly

Before you start planning a BBQ, make sure your grill is cleaned and prepped to work properly and efficiently. One of the ways you can do this is by firing it up, closing the hood, and letting the heat burn off any excess grease and debris. Then use a wire brush to scrub off all the carbon from the grates.

If you want the perfect grilled chicken, make sure you have enough fuel, and rub a little bit of oil onto the grates so the chicken breast doesn’t stick.

3.Don’t cook it on high heat

This one’s really important! The last thing you want is for your chicken to be raw on the inside but burnt on the outside. Since chicken needs time to cook thoroughly, it’s always a great idea to take it slow, and cook it over medium, indirect heat for most of the cooking time.

4.Cover the grill on all sides

Not covering the food on the grill is one of the biggest mistakes you can make. You not only lose a lot of heat (which means it takes longer to cook) but also waste plenty of fuel. Covering your grill creates a sealed environment and reduces the grilling time on your chicken. If your grill doesn’t have a lid, an upside-down pan can do the trick.

5.Don’t forget to season

Last but not least, make sure you sauce or baste often and at the end. If you brush the sauce on the chicken too early, it’s going to burn. Start lathering on sauces about 15-20 minutes before the chicken is done, and do it thoroughly on both sides.
